ABOUT US

The Action Council

The Action Council for Cross-Cultural Mental Health and Human Services, Inc. is a voluntary organization dedicated to enhancing the involvement of culturally diverse citizens in the management, delivery, and utilization of mental health and human services.

We represent public and private industries, civic organizations, human service agencies, as well as other professionals and volunteers who have an interest in cross-cultural issues.

The Action Council exists to promote the understanding of diverse cultures, and to provide a forum for the discussion of multi-cultural issues.  Through educational workshops, management training, and networking, the delivery of mental health and human services is improved.

Support is needed on a state-wide basis, as well as on the regional and local levels, in order to assist the Action Council in realizing its goals.  As an individual, your membership in the Action Council wzill grant you a place among professionals representing a variety of human services fields, who are united in support of the Council’s goals and activities.

The Action Council is passionately committed to improving the management and delivery of human services for people from diverse cultural backgrounds in South Carolina. Our mission is to foster understanding and sensitivity towards cultural issues, ensuring that everyone has access to quality mental health and human services. Through our efforts, we aim to create a more inclusive environment where diverse voices are heard and valued.

  2. Enhance the presence of culturally diverse professionals in human services.
  3. Offer training and consultation on service delivery and policy formulation.

Funding Our Mission

Sustaining Our Vision

The Action Council thrives through the generous support of our members, who contribute through membership dues. These funds are pivotal in enabling us to organize and deliver impactful programs and services. Additionally, we receive grants from various foundations and governmental bodies, which help us expand our reach and enhance our offerings. Our work is further supported by sponsorships from both public and private organizations, ensuring that we continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

As a tax-exempt organization under IRS Section 501 (c) (3), every contribution to the Action Council is not only an investment in a more inclusive future but also a testament to the power of community support. We invite you to join us in our mission to promote cultural diversity and improve human services across South Carolina.

Membership

Membership in the Action Council provides unique opportunities to network with other health and human service providers, as well as to learn about a  variety of timely topics from accomplished experts. The Action Council is approved by the South Carolina Board of social Work Examiners as a continuing education provider. Approval has also been granted by the South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
